| * This map was originally dated 1939 on this site. The Wyoming Historical Commission wrote, "The plat map dated 1939 for Wyoming Township, and likely other Kent County townships appears to be from 1927 or 1928. Upon inspection, we see a 77 acre property in section 24 that is shown to be titled to Elsie Martin. The ownership of that property by 1935 was taken by Benjamin Hanchett and later General Motors Corporation in 1936, continuing there for many decades as the site of the Fisher Body Plant." [15March2026] A copy of this map at Michigan State University says 1930/1939. We have chosen to estimate 1930, however it could be as early as 1927. |
