Dr. Llewelyn G. Wedgewood

5 December 1949 - Dr. Llewelyn G. Wedgewood, 76, family doctor in Grandville for the last 50 years, died at St. Mary's Hospital late Monday afternoon.
Dr. Wedgewood was practicing actively until the week before he died. He was admitted to St. Mary's hospital for treatment of a heart ailment a week ago.
Dr. Wedgewood received his degree in 1899 at Detroit college, now the medical school of Wayne university. Since then, in horse and buggy and by car, he has treated the citizens of Grandville for almost every ailment from a minor sprain to the birth of a child.
Earlier this year, he received a golden anniversary diploma from Wayne university at a meeting in Detroit. The Grandville Rotary club presented him with a gold watch at a dinner honoring him last spring in recognition of his years of service to the community.
Dr. Wedgewood was born on a farm near Byron Center, and was graduated from Grandville High school in 1895. After completing his education he settled in Jenison but moved to Grandville two years later, where he practiced until shortly before he died.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sidney Orcutt of Grandville, and Mrs. Frank York of Wyoming township, with whom he lived; two sons, Randall, of Wyoming township, and Gene, of Grand Rapids, and four grandchildren.
The body is at Hildreth Funeral home, Grandville.
