Death of Orie Kruger

(Grandville Avenue Record – 10 July 1914 – Pg. 1)

In the death of Orie Kruger of 440 B Street, which occurred Monday evening, the community loses an important figure. The deceased was well known and universally well liked, not only here, but all over the state. For a number of years he has been an invalid; his death was due to locomoter ataxia.

He was one of the most famous circus performers, graduating from the athletic clubs in this city. In the old days Kruger and Bunk Treadwell formed a team known throughout the whole country for their fears of strength. Mr. Kruger specialized in lifting heavy weights with his teeth. He was known for his remarkable feats of strength and performed in many of the leading circus productions of his time. The association of Mr. Kruger and Treadwell continued even outside the circus tent.

He is survived by a widow and three children. The funeral services were held at the residence Wednesday afternoon and interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.
