11/1936

William A. Jack, one of the staunchest friends the Peninsular Club ever had, and whose presence will be an invisible inspiration throughout the future existence of the club, passed away September 30 at his home.

Past president of the club, he was usually to be found working in some ways to build and perfect the organization. Always interested in every worth while endeavor to make Grand Rapids a better and pleasanter town, he contributed his energies and money to this end. Almost every charitable organization shared in his generosity.

One of his most outstanding efforts was the immense community dinner which he sponsored in 1928 for the purpose of bringing the citizens of Grand Rapids together for a discussion of common problems.

William Jack was an honorary member of the Rotary Club, a member of Blythefield Country Club and the Kinney Creek Fishing Club. He was a director of the Old Kent Bank.
