7/1944 - Edgar W. Hunting-The Peninsular Club news records with regret the death on June 14, of Edgar W. Hunting, veteran Grand Rapids furniture manufacturer and prominent citizen and a member of the Club.

Mr. Hunting was 82 years of age and had been secretary of Stow & Davis Furniture Co., for 51 years. He began his career in the furniture industry as a salesman for the Nelson-Matter Furniture Co., one of the widely known firms in Grand Rapids in the early days. He represented that and other Grand Rapids firms as a salesman for several years before joining the Stow & Davis firm in 1893.

Mr. Hunting was one of the three oldest communicants of Grace Episcopal church of which he had been a senior warden for 22 years. He had been affiliated with the church since 1890, the year of his marriage to Miss Grace Dyer, formerly of St. Louis, Mo., who died four years ago.

A native of Grand Haven, he had resided in Grand Rapids since his youth. He is survived by three sons, David D. Hunting, a member of the Peninsular Club; Robert C. Hunting of Memphis, Tenn., and Edgar Hunting of Pasadena, Cal., and seven grandchildren.
