2/1941 - William B. Banks. . .The death of William B. Banks on Jan. 27 at Blodgett Memorial Hospital came as a shock to his many friends in the Peninsular Club as in other walks of life where he was well known and highly esteemed.

Seldom did a day go by that he was not seen at the Club and the many friends with whom he customarily met at lunch will feel a keen personal loss.

Since joining the club in 1907 he had been one of its most loyal and ardent members.

For many years he was a director of the club and from February, 1927 to February, 1929 he served as secretary of the club.

The enthusiasm and high integrity which made Mr. Banks an outstanding worker in club affairs also carried him to success and distinction in his business life..

A native of Marshall, Mich., he became affiliated with Hart Mirror Plate Co., Grand Rapids, in an executive capacity soon after the organization of the firm in 1899. He continued with the firm and at the time of his death was secretary-treasurer and general manager. He gained national renown in the mirror industry, for many years having served on the executive committee of the National Mirror Manufacturers association with headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Banks was married to Marion Frances Savage, who survives him. Other survivors are a son, Joseph H. Banks, a daughter, Marian, and a granddaughter, Priscilla Lee Banks, all of Grand Rapids, and a brother, John of Portland, Ore.

Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. at the Metcalf chapel with Rev. Donald Carey, rector of Grace Church, officiating.
